The main goal of the Resource Conservation Challenge (RCC) is to change the way Americans think about waste—to see the value of a used material as a product or commodity, not as a waste. Are retail stores that are not FSC-certified able to sell a milled/finished product and still allow the product to retain the FSC label? Is there a difference in FSC "chain of custody" standards between milled/finished woods and raw lumber? -
As for your other specific question, those who sell FSC products to end consumers usually do not need to become certified. Remember, the FSC label is the link between responsible production and consumption. CoC makes it possible to track materials and products through the production chain and enable the consumer to feel confident that the product came from environmentally sound sources.

MIT's new coating is "superhydrophilic": it really loves water. It's made of a three-dimensional matrix of water-loving polymer chains mixed in with glass nanoparticles and tiny air bubbles. The edges of the tiny glass particles come in contact with many droplets of water and the water droplets flatten and join up to form sheets. The glass nanoparticles and air bubbles also can act like the holes in a sponge, sucking the droplets downward to wick away water.
