This may seem like I am taking the easy way out since PJ already posted the link for this material (eco-spun by Wellman, Inc. which is a fiber made from recycled plastics)....... but I thought that I could use it to make jewelry. The various colors of the fibers and the weave texture could be really fun and interesting.

I'm glad someone chose one of the manufacturers, I didn't show them just to illustrate my points.

1. Call them to determine if they give samples, and if so turn around time and quantity.
2. Talk to some local specialty jewelry manufacturers. You might want to check in with the faculty member Rolando Negoita. He's primarily a fine metal/jewelry manufacturer, but he may know some local people.
3. I'm not sure what you're thinking of for the form of your jewelry, but you might also want talk to custom weavers.
4. Jewelry is physically so small and this project is about maximizing the reduction of waste streams. How could you make a bigger impact? Is it targeted to a very wide audience? Is it marketed with another product as a "give away". etc.
5. Also how do play off of the associations of jewelry as precious, oil (source of plastic) as precious, but manufactured plastic as discardable.
