SADLY-
Americans buy 2.7 billion packages of breakfast cereal each year.
49 per cent of Americans start each morning with a bowl of cereal
Breakfast cereals are the third most popular product sold at supermarkets

and they are targeted at children .
can you imagine? most of the children in this country are staring at cardboard boxes each morning.

I wish my project could be to somehow make people stop eating cereal...(The cereal industry uses 816 million pounds of sugar per year, enough to coat each and every American with more than three pounds of sugar)

but for now-
lets do something with these boxes
lets teach these kids about recycling. that it can be fun. and useful. and important.
I propose to create an interesting activity the kids can do with the boxes and actually transform them into something else by themselves.

Okay Lee - If you're really stuck on cereal reach ou to manufacturers and see if they would be interested in printing your an activity on the back of their boxes. Maybe a smaller company, one that already has a progressive agenda similar to Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream.

In fact maybe you should consider Ben and Jerry's since they already are very socially progressive. Try contacting them with the idea just to see if you can get a response.

Actually I just went to the Ben and Jerry's website and they have a whole section on paper crafts for kids. How cool would it be for you to work with them on developing a set of instructions where they use their own packaging!
