Above is a switch box. They have circle punchouts all around the box. They are there so you can keep it enclosed except for the area where wiring is supposed to go through. I can see all those little circles that normally get thrown out to be used in various ways. I bought one at Home Depot to work with and explore.

Hey Sammy - I really like this idea. It may be a bit of a challenge to locate a consistent source of the punch outs in the right quantities. I'd recommend a two pronged strategy

1. Find a local carpenter with a socially progressive world view. Call the carpenters union and find the person that does their public relations or volunteering and describe your project with emphasis on the social benefit. Ask them if they can provide you with suggestions on working with a local carpenter's group.

2. Contact the manufacturer of the boxes and ask them if they have a program for reclaiming punch outs or if they have any suggestions. Again it may be their public relations office that you're looking for.

You might want to try Garvin Industries - they seem like a big supplier of electrical hanging boxes.
